Petey the puppy is a handsome dog found as a stray when very young. When he was first found, he looked like a beagle mix with his long ears and brown spots. He is named after the dog from little rascals TV show due to his spotty colors. But as he's getting older, people comment that he looks like an English Pointer with his lean body. One of his eyes has white eyelashes while the other eye lash is black, like the character from Star Trek. He gets compliments on his good looks wherever we go.

 

Petey is a very active dog who loves to run, especially splashing at the dog beach. He loves to play with all types of dogs, both small and large. He has a knack for getting the other dog riled up so that he gets chased, and then becomes best buddies, running and wresting. He lived with two cats, so he is good with cats as well. Because he is so active, he runs several miles a day with his foster dad, morning and evening, as well as visits dog beach few times a month.

 

Unfortunately, Petey is very shy of people, especially fearful of kids. He avoids people and shivers when kids come near. We're working on this by visiting places with many people like the Home Depot and Balboa Park and taking walks near an elementary school when kids are present to get him used to people, but he is still apprehensive. While any caring home adopting him will be wonderful, it will be great if Petey gets adopted by an active family with many kids, and patience so that he can learn to trust people and kids. He may not be too happy in a couch potato home.
