Vanilla is a 3-year old Saluki/Lab mix who was living on a construction site in Bahrain and being fed 

by a good samaritan. After Vanilla gave birth to her 11 puppies, the workers on the construction site hid her and the babies so they could eventually sell them to dog fighters for bait. After getting the authorities involved, the workers finally gave up their location and they were transported safely to a kennel until a home could be figured out. Unfortunately, all of them contracted Parvo and 9 of Vanilla’s sweet babies  died... One puppy had already been fostered, so she was spared, but Vanilla and her last baby Kendall had to go to the vet to undergo treatment. While going through treatment, they formed a bond like no other. As Kendall grew, the vet put her in another cage TWICE to give them more space and TWICE Vanilla broke through the cages in order to get to her baby. They have never been apart since she gave birth. 

They made a full recovery and after all vaccinations were done, they started their journey to the United States. 

Now in foster care, Vanilla bonds quickly to her human and is so very loyal! She l ikes to occasionally sleep in bed, but always ends up on her own bed by the end of the night.  She's e xtremely well behaved, easy going and sweet - she's been taken to restaurants, hotels and even on an airplane. Vanilla LOVES to be pet, and loves baby talk and affection - it’s the Lab in her.  Vanilla loves people!!! She's not great with other dogs at first meeting - she will growl and bark at first, but gets along after getting to know the other dogs. She got along very well with her foster's 2 dogs and their dog sitters 2 dogs. Vanilla loves going for walks, but is not a fan of car rides and will pant like crazy. She's also nervous about stairs, but just needs a little time to get comfortable with them. 

Vanilla is very affectionate, but does not like to be kissed on the face. She gets nervous and runs if you try to wrap your arms around her face and neck as man tried to choke her while she was a stray in Bahrain and almost killed her. She is honestly the best dog and deserves a loving home and forever family with her baby Kendall after all that she has been through.
