Jimmy is a 7-year old, purebred Dutch Shepherd who came to the U.S. from Holland when he was 3 years old. He's bilingual and listens to both English and Dutch commands! Jimmy was formerly in training for the competitive Royal Dutch Police Dog Sport (KNPV) in Holland, but decided he would rather be loved and cuddled all day than work that hard, so he was taken out of the training program.

Despite being 90lbs, Jimmy believes he is a lap dog and would lay on top of you getting scratched 24-hours a day if he could. He immediately loves anyone he meets and is great with kids and other dogs. He does have a tendency to chase cats, but he immediately turns into a baby when the cat stands up to him. Jimmy is extra special because when he was being transported from Holland to California, he escaped the transportation kennel and was lost in the LA area for 10 days. He was presumed dead because he had escaped while driving on the freeway. However, he’s a survivor and ended up at a shelter several miles away from where he was originally lost. After that adventure, Jimmy wants nothing more than to be safe and loved in a home with a family.

Jimmy has a goofy puppy-like energy, but only needs a short walk to tire him out. He also likes to serve his community by picking up trash during walks and bringing it all the way home (no he wasn’t trained for this, he's just a good samaritan). Jimmy would do best in a home where at least one person is home for a good portion of the day. He is not a fan of water, fireworks, or car rides, but if he has something to chew on or someone to cuddle with, he will more easily enjoy those things. Jimmy would be a great addition to any family who has lots of love to give.
