Consider every positive adjective you can about a dog, and Zeus will fulfill all those descriptors -- happy, lovable, gentle with people, playful with dogs, very well trained..the list could go on and on. How could such a great dog wind up with a rescue group you wonder? Well, his owner died and her grandson dumped him at a high kill shelter, even after he was a loyal companion to his grandmother for 5 years. At the shelter, he was always overlooked because he isn't a young pup and he is large (about 75 #). He couldn't compete with the "younger models" for adoption, so he was at risk of being put to sleep. We saved him because we realize he has many more years in him to be a loyal companion. This guy is energetic, loves to play with young dogs, and is a constant tail wagger. For those potential adopters who recognize an awesome dog when they see one,
he is  a hunk of a guy that wants to make sure he's always included in what's going on. He shows classic shepherd  temperament with calmness towards people and intelligence. He also does not like to be bored, would be great in a home that will give him exercise that both physically and mentally stimulates him.
